St Ives to Zennor

Dawn chorus and beautiful sun rise over St Ives bay at 4:30. Breakfast overlooking the horizon (much later!)Then with meagre rations packed we head off with P and A along the coast path westwards towards Zennor. The path is strewn with thrift, foxgloves and bluebells, the sea turquoise over sand. The path is quite rocky and rarely flat and grassy, we remember doing this with the girls many years ago and ended up at Zennor without a bus back and without pub lunch at the Tinners’ Arms! A lot of complaints on that occasion! We stop for a while on a grassy patch and watch seals: grey and black ones bobbing in the sea doing a sort of backstroke and basking on rocks. Then onwards to a lunch spot just before we head inland to Zennor. The pub is too busy to stop for a drink so we head inland across probably 50+ Cornish styles which seem to increase in difficulty as we near St Ives. 5 hours or so later we arrive back at Ayr camp site. We meet up with P and A for supper overlooking the bay before heading upstairs in the van in the fading light.
